Advent Prayer Spaces

Advent Prayer Spaces
11th December 2014 Anne Richards

As we prepare for Christmas, throughout Advent the chapel has been set up as a Prayer Space. 150 pupils from local primary schools have visited and we are currently working with our own students in years 7-9. By the end of this week about 1,000 young people will have accessed this space. They each have about half an hour to reflect on different people in the christmas story, and how their thoughts and feelings might relate to ours. There are plenty of opportunities to express thoughts, feelings, aspirations and prayers in a variety of ways.

As students hang a star or angel on the christmas tree, they may have written a prayer of thanks or a prayer for someone who needs some good news – reminding us that the angels are messengers of good news.

Advent is such an important time for christians to prepare themselves to once again welcome the message of hope through the birth of Jesus, God becoming one of us.

Everyone is welcome to come come and experience the prayer space at some point – may it be a place where you can find hope and peace this advent.
