On the 10th March 2016, two of Archbishop Sentamu Academy’s English classrooms were turned into busy BBC newsrooms!
Year 8 became journalists and felt the pressures of writing the daily news, ready for broadcasting by the end of the day. Working to strict deadlines and under the watchful eye of student editors, they researched, gathered, wrote, and recorded the news to a very high standard. The classrooms were alive with activity, with interviews of involving staff and students, being recorded all around the school grounds by roving reporters. Students also experimented with new software specifically bought to help them with their reports; students were given the opportunity to use the school’s state of the art media resources. Producing reports on local, national and international events, the students operated as true professionals.
