24th March 2015 admin
Archbishop Sentamu Academy 6th form students Lewis Carmichael and Lewis Anderson recently participated in the 2014/15 British Council Mandarin Speaking Competition.
Louis Carmichael wowed the audience and judges with his superb command of the language and his knowledge on Chinese history and culture, blended with his lovely manner and good sense of humour. Lewis Anderson delivered an equally outstanding performance in the advanced category. In his speech, he displayed his passion about the language and culture. He handled the pressure in a confident manner.
Lewis Anderson has received offers from four prestigious universities to study Chinese. Louis Carmichael is hoping to carry on his Chinese study at AS level and is now looking into the Chinese degree programme in various universities.
Louis Carmichael is featured on The Guardian website for his outstanding performance at the HSBC & British Council Chinese Speaking Competition and his inspirational journey of Chinese study.
We wish them good luck for their future studies!
