Archbishop Sentamu Academy is pleased and proud to announce that we have joined a national scheme which aims to get young people more involved and interested in films. As we have started teaching Film Studies as a GCSE subject to all students in Years 9, 10 and 11, we wanted to provide students with an opportunity to experience a range of films that they may not have considered watching before. The scheme is called FilmClub and is run by the British Film Institute and LoveFilm. It provides the school with films that we can watch and discuss with our students who then can write and post reviews of the films we see on the FilmClub website. Every month, the ten best reviews will be picked and the writers will receive a prize. On top of this there are opportunities to get involved with live webchats with industry professionals and workshops that take place across the country, attend special FilmClub events (hopefully like Film Premieres!) and even, if we’re very VERY lucky… we may even get a visit from a real life film star! Further details and information are available on the website www.filmclub.org – please have a look around. We are looking forward to getting FilmClub off the ground and we know it is going to be a huge success!
