Here at Archbishop Sentamu Academy, we excel at providing our students with the most varied cultural experiences we can. We have connections to schools and communities around the world, with close links to our International Partner Schools in different countries.
We currently have partner schools in:
Papua New Guinea
Each House is linked with a partner school. We also teach our students through the curriculum and collaborative projects, about the importance of respecting and understanding cultures, customs and countries different to our own. Our students currently have opportunities to visit our International Partners in China and Poland, with a view to some of our students being given the opportunity to visit Sierra Leone in 2013.
Each year group has a Focus Fortnight on one of our link countries, each year. The Focus Fortnights use workshops, visitors, visits and subject areas to support the cultural learning of our students.
The world is ever changing; our communities are ever growing.
We aim to break down cultural boundaries and misconceptions to create a cultural awareness, which enables our students to leave ASA as World Ambassadors; as Global Citizens.
