Our Father in heaven

Our Father in heaven
30th September 2014 Anne Richards

Once a man was asked, ‘what did you gain by praying regularly to God?’

The man replied, ‘nothing…..but let me tell you what I lost: anger, ego, greed, depression, insecurity, and fear of death’.

Sometimes, the answer to our prayers is not gaining but losing; which ultimately is the gain’.

This week in Collective Worship we are thinking about the beginning of the Lord’s Prayer. ‘Our Father in heaven’. For some of us to relate to God as Father is difficult because our experience of our own Father has not been so great. However, we are reminded that God is like the best possible Father anyone could ever have – full of love, compassion and forgiveness and he sees us as his precious children. Prayer is a conversation, a two-way exchange between God our heavenly Father and us.

Have you spoken to Him lately?
