‘Retaliation is the foundation of the development of enemies’. Prince Gandifare (Head Boy).
We usually quote famous people, or the bible, or from literature. But today I am quoting one of our students. I was delighted to be asked by him if he could lead Collective Worship on the theme of ‘Retaliation’ and we accommodated him as soon as we could.
It’s tempting to think that wisdom and inspiration will be found beyond where we are, but actually, there is wisdom and insight to be found within our own community that is just as significant and inspiring. Perhaps more so.
Students who are prepared to get up in front of their peers and speak about issues which challenge us all on a daily basis are so effective – you only have to see the faces of the audience to realise that. Who knows, maybe some of our students will be people who are quoted by others around the world in the future. Maybe we stand shoulder to shoulder with world changers, and we don’t even know it!
May we listen and hear what our young people have to say about themselves, and the world. They may just have something to teach us.
