The Diocese of York is excited to be the sponsor of its first Church of England Academy. The academy opened in 2008 in the building of its predecessor school, Archbishop Thurstan School. We moved into state of the art new buildings in September 2011, at the heart of a learning village serving the community of East Hull. Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Home Tutor – 1 year in the first instance
- Admin Grade 6 SPC 23-26,
- 32.5 hours per week Term Time only plus five training days.
- Starting salary £15892 p.a. based on full time equivalent £21057 p.a.
- Start date as soon as possible
- Fixed period of one year in the first instance
Archbishop Sentamu Academy are currently looking to recruit a Level 3 teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis to support the learning of students who are not working to a normal timetable. This will include tutoring them in their home environment under the guidance of teaching staff.
Due to the nature of the job every student you work with will have different needs and requirements for home tutoring, due to this an adaptable and resilient approach to work is an advantage.
The candidate must have high level of general academic ability with at least GCSE Maths and English grade B or above.
Previous experience of working in an education environment and/or with challenging young people and their families is essential. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills which will allow them to engage with students, staff and parents. They will also be able to identify and support barriers to learning. Knowledge and experience of adhering to safeguarding procedures would be beneficial however training will be given.
A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle on a daily basis is essential (mileage rates payable).
